Saturday at the beach
I’ve been having a pretty good summer, but it didn’t officially feel like “summer” until Saturday.
Saturday, Jennifer and I went to North Topsail Island with a few friends and did NOTHING except lay on the beach. I mean nothing.
And it was great.
We brought the dogs, we brought the food and we enjoyed the sun and the sound of the waves for nearly seven hours. Life really doesn’t get much better.
I even kept with the tradition of getting sunbuned on the parts of my back and sides where I failed to reach with the lotion. It’s both a funny and painful tradition.
Birthday
The reason for the trip (other than a much-needed get-away) was to celebrate my 32nd birthday. Sixteen years ago today, I hit the open road for the first time as a licensed driver. It’s now 16 years later … Which means I’ve been driving longer than I haven’t been driving. I know 32 isn’t “old old” but I tend to look at age in those terms. I know 32 is about the age where running backs in the NFL hang it up for good, but then again, they’ve been taking a pounding for the last 13 years. I haven’t.
In fact, I feel better than ever. So bring on 33, 34 and 35. But not 36 … 36 is OLD.
Present
I’m typing this blog entry on the gift my amazing wife got me … The new iPhone. When I tell you this little device can do it all … It’s an understatement. I may write a review on it later this week … But for now, I just want to thank her for the trouble she went through to get it.
Later.
