The state lets the parties decide if they want to open their primaries for independent voters, and this year (as usual) both parties said yes. However, if you are registered as a democrat, then you can only vote in the democratic primary. And if republican, same - you can only vote in republican primary. If you wish to change your party affiliation, you need to do it before April 11. If you are an independent, you may choose to vote in either the republican or democratic primary.
