NFL picks: Week 10
November 9, 2007
Well, Jennifer and I did not post our picks from last week, but Sunday morning, BEFORE the games got underway, we did write our games down on a napkin. So the following records for the season are fair and balanced … just like this blog. Note: I’ll add Jennifer’s comments when I stop by the office … by the way, I’m on vacation until Sunday!
Last week’s rundown:
Straight up — Billy 9-5 (83-47 overall); Jennifer 11-3 (82-48 overall); my dad … guest picker (9-5)
Against the line — Billy 9-5 (69-56-5 overall)
This week
at
Line: Cardinals by 1
My pick: Detroit’s too hot to be an underdog in this one, even if they are on the road. Lions 34, Cardinals 24
Jennifer: I’ll take the Lions up on their 10-win prediction that’s not a prediction. LIONS
at
Line: Ravens by 4
My pick: Both teams are struggling, but it’s in Baltimore, and the Ravens are just the better team right now. Ravens 21, Bengals 18
Jennifer: Hmm…what will happen when a great offensive team meets a great defensive team? BENGALS
at
Line: Bills by 3
My pick: I think this is the week the Dolphins get a win. Call it a hunch, call it another loss for me. Dolphins 19, Bills 17
Jennifer: Has poor, poor Miami won yet? I think they lose again this week. BILLS
at
Line: Panthers by 4
My pick: I’m not completely comfortable with this because of Carolina’s QB situation … but Atlanta stinks on the road. Panthers 27, Falcons 21
Jennifer: Panthers can’t get anything right with David Carr. Poor Panthers, they were looking pretty good with Jake and even with Vinnie…Carr just doesn’t have what it takes in the NFL. FALCONS
at
Line: Bears by 3.5
My pick: I know the Bears have it rough this year, but they’ve got to win this game if they’re to stay alive. Oakland’s still a ways off, they need to put in Jamarcus Russell. Bears 31, Raiders 14
Jennifer: Are the Bears still playing? Does anyone care? RAIDERS
at
Line: Cowboys by 1.5
My pick: Dallas’ offense just looks too strong, and I’m not completely sold on the Giants’ defense. I think it’s another high scoring game, but not as close as the last one. Cowboys 38, Giants 24
Jennifer: Ooh…I am actually looking forward to this one. I have a feeling it will come down to the wire…and go the Cowboys way. Yuck. COWBOYS
at
Line: Packers by 6
My pick: Adrian Peterson’s a monster … but he’s going to have a rough time against a good Green Bay defense (see his game against Dallas). I don’t like it, but the Packers go 8-1. Packers 25, Vikings 13
Jennifer: We beat them already this year and, yes, I know that Adrian Peterson is amazing. But I just won’t pick against my Packers. Go Pack! Go Pack! Go Pack! PACKERS
at
Line: Colts by 3.5
My pick: You’ve got to worry about the Colts still reeling from the Patriots game, and you never really know what San Diego’s going to do this year. Tough game. Colts 30, Chargers 24
Jennifer: Good game. Can’t wait. COLTS
at
Line: Chiefs by 3
My pick: Denver’s down, but they’re not completely out of it. That said, they don’t have a QB this week, and Kansas City’s hot. Another tough game. Chiefs 27, Broncos 21
Jennifer: How shall I say this? The Broncos had their asses handed to them last Sunday by the Lions and by the Packers (Go Pack!) in Week 8. Their confidence has to be shot, but I think they’ll come roaring back this week and take it out on the Chiefs. BRONCOS
at
Line: Saints by 11.5
My pick: New Orleans is on a roll, but they’re still not looking like last year’s Saints. I still think this is easy for them. Saints 38, Rams 20
Jennifer: How ’bout dem Saints? Looking more and more like the Saints of last year…I think they do it again this week. Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say they gonna beat dem SAINTS? Not the Rams! (This is for you Rick: Who is that? Who is that? Who is that who says they will beat our beloved Saints?)
at
Line: Steelers by 9.5
My pick: This won’t be the blowout it was in Week 1, but Cleveland’s just not “there” yet. Steelers 31, Browns 17
Jennifer: What was that Monday night? The Steelers were like this unstoppable force that looked like they would score into next week. The Browns had the Steelers number earlier this season, but I don’t think they can pull it off again. STEELERS
at
Line: Titans by 4
My pick: Tennessee just finds ways to win, but I think the luck runs out a little this week against an embarrassed Jaguars team. Jags 29, Titans 21
Jennifer: The Titans just win games. They win again this week. TITANS
at
Line: Redskins by 3
My pick: I actually want the Eagles to win this one, I’d love to see the Redskins drop to 5-4. I just hope it happens. Eagles 28, Redskins 27
Jennifer: Ooh, battle of Billy’s least favorite teams. Washington took round one…my crystal ball says they take round two. SKINS
at
Line: Seahawks by 10
My pick: I am happy to say the Seahawks still suck, but they’ll get a win this week. Seahawks 31, 49ers 17
Jennifer: I think a better prediction would be how many people actually tune into this game. I say 15…You know the people at MNF must be pulling their hair out with these crappy games (except for Green Bay v Denver). HAWKS
Note from Jennifer: So, I’m happy things are getting back to normal in our household…I’m finally beating Billy regularly at our picks each week. Oh, wait, this isn’t a competition right, dear? Anywho…maybe Billy will actually post these picks ON TIME this week!!
