It’s a ‘linky’ Thursday
Oh, if only I got paid to post things online. I’d do it much more often.
And I wasn’t going to do it today, but I ran across some things online that I thought I’d share. Some are newsworthy, and some definitely aren’t. Here ya go:
• North Carolina has horrible bridges.
I’m sure the recent bridge tragedy in Minnesota has everybody thinking about the safety of their bridges. A Charlotte TV station reported today that North Carolina has some of the worst bridges in the southeast. Here are the 10 worst bridges in North Carolina (yay, Lee County is nowhere to be seen):
List of 10 Worst Bridges in NC
1. Interstate 40 Business at Liberty Street, Winston-Salem
2. US 17 at New River, Onslow County
3. US 421 at Little Creek, Forsyth County
4. Interstate 40 Business at Lowery Street, Winston-Salem
5. US 401 at Crabtree Creek, Wake County
6. Interstate 440 at Southern Railway, Wake County
7. US 52 Northbound Lane at Liberty Street
8. Interstate 85 and Yadkin River, Rowan County
9. US 70 at Peace Street, Raleigh
10. Interstate 40/85 Westbound Lane at US 29, US 70, and
US 220 Northbound Lane, Greensboro
• Religion and the Internet are becoming best of buds. A new Web site allows you to Chat with God. Another site makes it easy to become a reverend. Unfortunately, I trust neither site.
• Link to my favorite columnist in the world. His name is Gordon Keith, and he’s a columnist for a weekly paper in Dallas, Texas. He’s also co-host of a morning sports talk show on Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket in Dallas. Yes, he’s in Dallas … but you dont’ have to be from Dallas to appreciate him. Warning: He can be a bit offensive. Babyarm.
•
I never reported it on here, but I’ve added two new local blogs to my sidebar. The first is Sanford Herald reporter Gordon Anderson (no relation to Gordon Keith), and the other is Lee County Sheriff Tracy Carter. I have no affiliation to Carter, though I find him to be a nice guy. I’ll post any local blog if anybody wants their’s mention.
• The Herald is adding a new reporter Monday, Chelsea Kellner, who comes to us from the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Her interview was her first true trip to the south, and apparently, she liked it enough to take the job. We’re excited to have her. Click here to see some of her articles from The Trib.
• Remember Mike Tyson’s PunchOut for NES? How about Excitebike? Super Mario Brothers? Ghosts and Goblins? Kung Fu? Double Dragon? Metroid?
The list goes on … but now you can play all of them on your computer and waste precious money your boss is paying you to actually work. This Website is just one of a handful out there that provides free access to all the games you begged your parents to buy in the 1980s (of course, that is if you’re in your late 20s, early-to-mid 30s).
